About Us

Salem Home Inc. is a 145 bed personal care home, located in Winkler Manitoba. Owned and operated by 14 Mennonite Churches, Salem Home Inc. is an independent, faith-based facility, dedicated to the delivery of holistic care. The churches appoint the Governing Board, who in turn oversees the attainment of the mission, vision and beliefs of the Corporation. Salem Home Inc. operates through a signed  Service-Purchase Agreement with the Regional Health Authority-Central Manitoba Inc.

 

Our Mission

 As an expression of our Christian faith and Mennonite culture, and with respect for the dignity of persons created in the image of God, Salem Home Inc. is committed to the provision of holistic, personal care services and to participating in the development of structures and programs fundamental to the well-being of long term care clients 
residing within our constituency.

Our Beliefs

We Believe...

  • That life and death come from the Creator, and has inherent value and has inherent value and purpose.  

  • That death achieves life’s final purpose and each person has the right to a natural death with dignity, and that there shall be no intervention for the primary purpose of achieving death itself.  

  • That aging is the continuous process of living, learning and growing.  Residents admitted to our care require assistance due, moreso to limitations imposed by disease and/or accident, than because of the limitations of natural aging.

  • In the uniqueness and dignity of each individual and attempt to balance the needs of that individual with the facility’s ability to respond to those needs.  

  • In a decision making process that incorporates the role of family. 

  • In resident-centred care which encompasses the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs of each individual resident.

  • That the religious, cultural and traditional values of each resident shall be respected to the extent possible within the facility.  

  • In developing and maintaining optimum independence of each resident. 

  • That all services delivered shall be evaluated against established standards.  

  • That qualified and committed employees are our most valuable resource and that programs of orientation and education are an investment in the development and enhancement of that resource.  

  • That Salem Home Inc., as a long term care facility, is an integral part of the health care services continuum and is committed to work cooperatively within the limitations of its legal mandate and resource base.

  • In the value of research and are open to new methodologies which enhance the delivery of services and enrich the well being of the resident.
